in which i cry like a baby
So I just watched “The Notebook” for the first time — I know… could I have waited any longer to jump on that bandwagon? For a solid chunk of the beginning, before I really figured out what was happening, I really wasn’t seeing the appeal. But by the end… bawling like a baby! Could not stop the tears from pouring down my face. It wasn’t even the young-Allie/Noah that was killing me… it was the older-Allie/Noah. Once I figured out what was going on, that Allie had dementia and couldn’t remember that the man reading her the story was her husband, and that it was their story*… oh dear lord. Tears just pouring down my face.
Holy crap… I understand why people say you need tissues to watch that movie.
*I highly doubt I actually spoiled this movie for anyone… but if I did, I’m really sorry!
let’s go fly a kite
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it here before, but a movie theatre near me plays older movies on the big screen once a week. This week was Mary Poppins! Freaking awesome, dude!!
Mary Poppins has always been one of my favorite movies. The music, the dancing, the Dick Van Dyke. Yes, I said it… I have a when-he-was-younger crush on Dick Van Dyke. I find him quite attractive in movies like Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. What can I say… he was a good lookin’ guy. Aaaaand he can sing and dance in hilarious ways. Too bad he was sixty when I was born!
Anyway, please enjoy my favorite scene from the movie*
*Sorry about the words in the video. I couldn’t find a non-sing-along version.
my kind of movie night
Tomorrow night, it’s just me and gratuitous explosions, fistfights and old fashioned badasses.
Walking Tall (starring none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson*) and Die Hard (the original Bruce-Willis-equals-hot-badass-I-would-totally-have-sex-with movie) are on tomorrow night on TBS. Hopefully I get home from work in time to watch them both in full.
*While making sure that I was spelling The Rock’s real name right, I noticed that he is going to be in a movie that will be released in 2009 called ‘Race to Witch Mountain.’ With further research — read, clicking on the movie title on IMDb — I discovered that this is a remake of quite literally my faaaaaavorite movie from when I was a kid, ‘Escape to Witch Mountain.’ I had it taped off the television, and I watched it so many times that the tape busted and I cried for like five days until my dad found a copy of it in a used book and movie store. If you haven’t seen it… try to discover it now! It’s faaaaantastic. I will so be seeing the remake!**
**Is it bad that my sidenote is longer than my post?
